Job Description

Status: Full-Time Salary, 12 Month

Reports to: Technology Specialist 

Position Summary

The Assistant Technology Specialist supports the Technology Specialist in maintaining and operating the school’s technology environment. This role focuses on frontline technical support, device preparation, classroom technology assistance, and event setup to ensure technology functions effectively for instruction, operations, and school activities.

Responsibilities

End-User Support

  • Provide timely and professional technical support to faculty, staff, and students for technology issues related to school issued devices and equipment.

  • Respond to support requests and assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity problems.

  • Provide basic guidance and support to staff on device usage, applications, and classroom technology.

  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees and students by preparing devices and accounts.

Systems Support & Infrastructure Assistance

  • Assist the Technology Specialist in maintaining the school’s IT systems and network infrastructure.

  • Support routine system maintenance tasks such as updates, equipment checks, and basic troubleshooting.

  • Help maintain organized documentation of devices, systems, and procedures.

  • Report infrastructure issues or outages to the Technology Specialist for resolution.

Device & Asset Management

  • Prepare and deploy school-issued devices including laptops, tablets, and Chromebooks.

  • Assist with device imaging, setup, updates, and troubleshooting.

  • Help maintain accurate inventory records of technology equipment.

  • Assist with collection, repair coordination, and secure retirement of devices.

Classroom Technology Support 

  • Assist teachers with classroom technology including smartboards, projectors, printers, and audio systems.

  • Help set up technology for instructional activities and classroom presentations.

  • Provide quick-response support when classroom technology issues arise during the school day.

Assistive Technology Support

  • Assist in supporting students and staff who use assistive technology tools to enhance accessibility and learning.

  • Help set up and maintain assistive software, devices, and accessibility features on school-issued devices.

  • Work with teachers, learning specialists, and the Technology Specialist to ensure assistive technology functions reliably in the classroom environment.

Audio/Visual & Event Support

  • Assist with technical set-up and execution for chapel, assemblies, and school events.

  • Help set up microphones, sound systems, projectors, and presentation equipment.

  • Test and troubleshoot equipment before events to ensure smooth operation.

Required Qualifications

  • Professes a saving faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and accepts the authority of Scripture as a guide for faith and living.

  • Models Christian character in speech and actions and aligns with the school’s defining characteristics.

  • Basic working knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Chrome OS environments.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with users of varying technical ability.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Willingness to learn and grow in technical skills and systems management.

  • Commitment to serving faculty, staff, and students with professionalism and patience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing technical support in an educational or service environment.

  • Familiarity with Apple products, Google Workspace, classroom technology, STEAM and Robotics equipment, and device management systems.

  • Experience supporting assistive technology or accessibility features in educational settings.

  • Interest in developing skills in networking, systems administration, or educational technology.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

  • Ability to walk multiple flights of stairs daily and safely use a ladder.
