Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Review and work insurance accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of payments
• Follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims with insurance companies
• Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA)
• Identify, investigate, and resolve claim denials and payment discrepancies
• Submit corrected claims, appeals, and reconsiderations as needed
• Verify insurance benefits, coverage, and authorization status when required
• Maintain accurate documentation of all collection activity and payer communication
• Communicate effectively with billing, coding, front desk, and clinical staff
• Ensure compliance with insurance guidelines, contracts, and regulations
• Meet productivity and collection goals while maintaining quality standards

Verification and Authorization Responsibilities:

• Verify medical insurance
• Contact suited parties to obtain needed information to verify benefits
• Calculate out of pocket expenses for patients
• Obtain authorization
• Obtain medical records and notes from doctors’ offices
• Send medical records and notes to insurance for authorization
• Follow up on previous requested authorization
• Speak to clinical technician when needed on authorizations
• Download EFT payments and verify they are posted correctly
• Accurate data entry
• Manage clearing house (Optum)
• Correct and resubmit any denials from health insurance companies

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2-3 years' experience in health insurance collection and verification
• Minimum 2-3 year's experience using EMR systems, Availity, Optum health insurance provider portals
• Experience using Evicore or authorization online portals

Compensation: $19.00 - $22.00 Hourly
Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
