Job Title: Regional Loss Prevention Manager

Reports To: Sr. Manager, Loss Prevention & Business Continuity

FLSA Status: Salary Exempt

Role Type: Full Time

Work Location: Central North Carolina

Working Hours: Regular hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm but must have a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business (schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays). Responds to store-based emergencies as needed.

Job Summary:

The Regional Loss Prevention Manager (RLPM) is a strategic leader responsible for implementing and overseeing loss prevention, safety, and inventory management programs within their assigned region. The RLPM serves as a critical link between the corporate Loss Prevention (LP) team and field/store operations, ensuring that all loss prevention, safety, and inventory protocols align with company objectives. This role involves training, auditing, investigating, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to minimize risk, improve safety outcomes, and protect company assets.

General Leadership

• Collaborate with Regional, District, and Store Managers to enhance regional performance related to Loss Prevention, Safety, and Inventory.

• Conduct routine visits to stores, providing direct support and training to ensure adherence to LP and safety protocols.

• Utilize tools like the LP Dashboard, P&L statements, and Expense Reporting to review compliance with LP, Safety, and Inventory goals.

• Lead and participate in quarterly audits focused on Loss Prevention, Safety, and Inventory compliance.

• Act as a subject matter expert and advocate for LP strategies, promoting a culture of accountability and security across the region

Loss Prevention

• Partner with Operations and Food Teams to meet budget targets for cash and lottery loss, ensuring adherence to cash handling policies.

• Conduct investigations and interviews related to internal and external theft using resources like CCTV, Exception-Based Reporting (EBR), and whistleblower tips.

• Prepare detailed case files for internal use and potential legal proceedings, collaborating with law enforcement when necessary.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

• Deliver training on robbery, burglary, and workplace violence prevention and response.

• Serve as an on-call leader for critical incidents, including robberies, burglaries, fires, and workplace violence events, providing immediate response and post-incident support.

Safety Management

• Lead initiatives to reduce accident rates for General Liability (GL) and Workers' Compensation (WC) incidents in the assigned region.

• Collaborate with Risk Management and store teams to ensure appropriate responses to safety incidents, including follow-ups and root cause analyses.

• Promote a culture of safety through training, inspections, and employee engagement programs.

Inventory Audit & Shrink Management

• Support Operations and Food Teams in achieving inventory shrink and total loss reduction targets.

• Participate in inventory audits, with a focus on high-shrink locations, and assist in resolving discrepancies.

• Perform department-level counts following incidents of significant loss.

• Work with store teams to develop and implement action plans to address inventory discrepancies, theft, and other loss drivers.

• Analyze inventory trends, providing actionable insights to drive improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: An ideal candidate will have experience with or understanding of:

  • Strong analytical skills: able to identify trends and develop root cause solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills: able to put together detailed reports and maintain case files.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills & the ability to work with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using investigative tools, LP software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations related to criminal cases and loss prevention procedures.
  • Proficiency in analyzing financial data, including Profit & Loss statements, and providing strategic recommendations.

Education and Experience : An ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Loss Prevention, Criminal Justice, Business Management, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years in multi-unit Loss Prevention/Asset Protection roles, ideally in retail or convenience store environments.
  • Experience conducting investigations and interviews (Wicklander-Zulawski or Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) certification).

Working environment and physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to remain stationary.

Travel:

• Must be able to travel up to 75%.
