Job Title: Welding Engineer

Overview
A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking a highly skilled Welding Engineer to support daily welding and dispense operations within a fast-paced, highly automated production environment. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, improving manufacturing processes, and working hands-on in a cutting-edge Body Shop environment.
What You'll Do:
Provide daily technical support to Maintenance and Quality teams for welding and dispense systems
Troubleshoot equipment failures and process-related issues to minimize downtime
Coach and mentor maintenance personnel to strengthen root-cause analysis and troubleshooting capabilities
Serve as a subject-matter expert on GMW standards and ensure process compliance
Partner with Quality and Production teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Support automation upgrades, robot integrations, and tooling enhancements in the Body Shop
What You Bring:
Essential Skills:
Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Hands-on Body Shop / plant floor experience
Willingness to work overtime, off-shift, and rotate shifts as needed
Strong problem-solving skills with a bias for action
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior Body Shop maintenance experience
Experience as a Maintenance Group Leader or Technical Support Engineer
Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or a related field
Work Environment
Approximately 75% of your time will be spent on the production floor and 25% in an engineering office setting
Highly automated environment with frequent robot upgrades and new technology introductions
Required PPE includes safety glasses, high-visibility gear, and arm protection

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $48.00/hr.
